Rain, Rescue Dogs & Really Good Sandals

We did it. We packed the trailer, hit the road, and showed up big for our very first in-person event: Woofstock in Ellijay, GA—a dog-loving, 60s-themed, tail-waggin’ kind of day that we’ll never forget.

Getting there? A little wild.

We spent weeks prepping our event setup—designing our Gypsy Footwear tent, building out custom product shelves, and crafting the cutest-ever “photo op” stand for pups to pose with our signature Gypsy wings. (Yes, your dog can be the logo now.)

Our plan was solid: load 3X the inventory, head to our future HQ in North Carolina (a.k.a. the soon-to-be Gypsy Footwear warehouse), and camp out in the barn with our huskies, Bella and Gypsy. What could go wrong?

Oh, just forgetting our Starlink, which powers our point-of-sale system. Classic.

After a last-minute Best Buy stop and one hasty Starlink purchase later, we were back on track… until the thunderstorm of the century rolled in. That night, lightning and thunder cracked directly over the barn and scared the floof right out of everyone—humans and dogs included.

By morning, our backup Starlink was toast. (Fried, zapped, totally useless.) But you know what wasn’t fried? Our spirits. We hotspotted a phone, crossed our fingers, and showed up.

And WOW—y’all showed up too.
We were nonstop all day—helping customers find their perfect pair of comfortable, supportive sandals, letting folks test out our flip-flops with arch support, and showing off our ultra-cozy Woolees socks. We sold a pile of product, met amazing people, and had so much fun connecting face-to-face.

Even better? The event supported a local animal shelter, and we got to meet so many like-minded dog lovers who believe in what we’re building. (Spoiler: It’s more than footwear—it’s a movement.)

We’re a small business with big heart, and this event reminded us why we do it.

So here’s to more events, more pups, more road trips, and more magical moments where style meets comfort and purpose.
